By Dr. Catherine French of University of Minnesota in Nominating Dr. Tadros for ACI Fellow status:

“Dr. Tadros has made significant contributions to the advancement of concrete utilization in construction. As an educator, he has taught over ten different courses in concrete technology and structural design. He has received a number of teaching awards, including the inaugural Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Distinguished Educator Award in 1995.  As a researcher, he has published numerous publications almost exclusively on concrete related issues, and received numerous awards. In addition, he has contributed with other members of his consulting firm, to value engineering of a number of steel structures resulting in their conversion to concrete structures.

Dr. Tadros was the driving force behind the development of the PCI Bridge Design Manual. As Director of the Center for Infrastructure Research, 1990-1995, the Center became widely recognized for its practical research in roads and bridges. Dr. Tadros is leading the effort towards removal, from ACI 318, of unnecessary working stress design allowable stresses in prestressed concrete flexural members”

By Mr. Lance Latham of Ash Grove Company in nationally circulated newsletter, issue #3, April 2002:

“A Quiet Revolutionary----‘….Over the years, he has quietly built one of the most impressive records of achievement in structural design in the world, but he’ll never tell you than directly. He is a true believer of “in the deed, the glory,”  …..the now-famous NU (Nebraska University) Girder is being used on bridges all over the world. The Inverted Tee is becoming common in small bridges…. Finding Lyman Freemon, the head bridge engineer for the Nebraska Department of Roads, Tadros knew that there was a real chance for Nebraska to lead the nation. ‘It’s not just Nebraska, it’s the whole world,’ said Freemon, speaking of the contributions Tadros has made to transportation construction. ‘He’s a genius.’…..His achievements, contributions, innovations, and energy make him much more than just a promoter of our industry. They make him a true revolutionary leading a very successful revolution-very quietly.”
